Lincoln Level 1: Press Start

Level Up

With the fall semester underway, our hallways are once again buzzing with energy, laughter, and learning. It’s a joy to see our students’ smiling faces and our amazing teachers back at work doing what they love.

This year, we’re excited to launch our theme: “Level-Up Lincoln!” Together, we’ll be finding new ways to grow, achieve, and celebrate success every day. Students will have the chance to earn Level-Up Awards, announced over the intercom, for showing growth in academics, behavior, and social skills.

We’re also renaming our Student of the Month award to the New High Score Award—recognizing students who demonstrate outstanding classroom leadership. These will be presented at our monthly assemblies as we cheer each other on.

I look forward to an incredible year of learning, growth, and celebrating all the milestones along the way. Let’s Level-Up, Lincoln!

Unlocking New Characters: Meet The Team...

What is something your students would be surprised to find out about you?

One of my tortoises full grown will be close to 100 lbs. I have had a ton of different animals for pets and I love sports. I help coach volleyball for Gering, as well! Go Bulldogs!

J. Merriman

"What is one of your grandest adventures?"

My grandest adventure, so far, has been moving to a new state alone and not knowing anyone! But I also do a lot of solo camping with my dog!

"What inspired you to pursue a career in education?"

Ever since I was little, I have always wanted to be a teacher. My parents were both teachers and seeing the impact they had on their students was very inspiring. I have always wanted to make a difference in the young lives of students that will shape the future!

J. Howard

K. Sylvester
Ms. Sylvester, Preschool

What teacher had a significant impact on you and what do you look forward to the most about becoming a Gering Bulldog?

Mrs. Palser at the Gering High School is actually the teacher who had a significant impact on me. I remember her taking the time to build relationships with her students and I always knew she was there when I needed her. I look forward to being a teacher at the school where I once learned.

Is there anything you would like to share with the Bulldog family to open the door of connections?

Yes! In addition to serving as your Occupational Therapist, I also co-coach the Gering High School POMS Dance Team with my mom, Lisa Blanco. This will be my 4th year coaching. Go Bulldogs!

Mrs. Widhelm, Occupational Therapist
N. Anderson

Tell us a little about yourself...

I grew up in Scottsbluff then graduated from Chadron State College in 2019 with my bachelor's degree. I am currently going back to school for my master's. Fun fact I have a 2 year old daughter, as well!

What is one of your grandest adventures?

My grandest adventure would have to be touring through various castles in Germany!

Reminder

Morning Drop-Off Reminder
Just a gentle reminder about our morning drop-off times:

  • 7:35am for students who will be eating breakfast at school

  • 7:50am for all other elementary students and preschoolers

We want to make sure we have plenty of caring staff on hand to welcome and watch over our students each morning. Thank you so much for helping us keep drop-off running smoothly and safe for everyone!

Our Lincoln Family wants to give a HUGE shout-out to our amazing Booster Club for all the ways they support our students! Already this year, they’ve helped install higher fencing around part of our soccer field—keeping playground balls safe from the street—and they continue to stock our book vending machine, making sure every student gets a special book on their birthday. 📚🎉

Want to get involved? The Booster Club is a wonderful way for PreK–5th grade families to support our school while connecting with others in our Lincoln community. If you’d like more information, please reach out to Amy Ranalletti at aranalletti@geringschools.net.

Together, we can do big things for our students!
